I was searching for decreasing sensivity and I was directed to this website, the good news about Borderline Personality Disorder that I have is that it's treatable with consistent DBT or (life skills) I wish I could afford to go to the groups, I have time to do this online and treat it as that it's going to save my life.

I enjoyed the website, especially exposure therapy and when and when not to use the DBT skills.

Thank You

This post really spoke to me. I had a multiple 'traffic jams' today. I see now that I need to put more effort into practicing acceptance.

This post really spoke to me. I can relate to this topic, particularly:

"When our anxiety controls our attention, our brains often shut down certain aspects of experience. We have difficulty seeing what else is there.

As long as we can prevent ourselves from looking, we can avoid things that make us anxious. Often when we avoid what makes us anxious, we don’t have to come to terms with sadness, loss, or pain."

Recently I have become more open to discussing topics that I once buried deep inside of me. This is because through my therapy and DBT work I have been able to get a better grip on my anxiety. Suddenly. sadness came to me along with issues that had been buried deep within me. I am working on mindfulness and acknowledgment in the hopes that I too can be "set free." I accept that this will be a process. I am open to it, I am open to this change.

I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed series Dead Like Me, too. I felt it was like a parable of my life and like I am trying to come alive.

Excellent insightful post! I think it's important for people to learn that they can experience their emotions without being controlled by them--the very belief that our emotions control our behavior is one of the things that a) our culture seems to perpetuate and b) needs to be addressed. .ne has to learn how to observe emotions and separate out the observing self from the experienced "monkey mind." Developing mindfulness skills is key, but as you stress, difficult.
